For over 3 decades, the Renaissance Center has been a landmark on the Detroit skyline.  This first class facility was enhanced in 2004 with an interactive fountain / water feature installed by the experts at Marc Dutton Irrigation, Inc.

The overall feature consists of over 300 fountain nozzles whose variable output is controlled by an elaborate computer system that creates delightful dancing patterns that engage and interact with visitors.

Reflecting the perfection of the architecture and the setting, the Dutton team had to meet stringent specification for the placement of each fountain nozzle, creating perfectly uniform grids of dancing water when the fountain operates.   Once placed and configured, each fountain nozzle was cast in concrete to prevent movement over time.   Each nozzle is also lit by its own individual fixture, creating a compelling display day or night.

The heart of the fountain consists of two 20 horsepower pumps driving a total of nearly 4,000 gallons per minute of re-circulated water to a plethora of fountain jets.  The water is continuously filtered by a 30” sand filtration system.   The entire mechanical system is designed for long life and easy maintenance.
